Micro Weddings. What are they and why you should love them

Micro weddings are put simply small and intimate wedding celebrations. These weddings are focused more on the company and honoured traditions rather than excess.Admittedly not for every bride, these weddings focus on small or even no bridal party, small guest lists and minimal courses (think lunch functions) and decorations. With the average cost of a wedding in Australia being $30,000, brides are looking at ways of saving money for other purposes and experiences such as honeymoons, buying a house or even planning for kids.Thinking this is for you? Then lets get planning!

  1. Pick your venue-once you have sorted your venue you can determine guest list size and tailor to the venue.

  2. Decide on food and drink-great food and drinks are essential for celebrating. and think about a Brunch or luncheon reception rather than serving dinner to save.

  3. Choose Attire-its so special to get dressed up for your big day no matter how small your wedding is. Think about the photos and looking back on your day in many years.

  4. Sort a photographer-its best to hire a pro for the day. They will be able to customise the package to suit your needs.

  5. Consider DIY-with flowers why not visit flower markets and buy some posies yourself to decorate tables. Think about visiting a dollar store to buy some vases and candles for table decorations rather than hiring florists and event stylists.

  6. Kitchen cakes- if your cake is being served as dessert for your wedding then consider just having a smaller cutting cake for the photos and having a simple kitchen cake to serve to your guests.
